Metal Sonic Hyperdrive

Introduction: Metal Sonic Hyperdrive is a major ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive by Lone Devil. It heavily modifies Sonic 1 with new zones, music, playable characters, gameplay systems, and a style influenced by Sonic CD.

Gameplay & Mechanics: Metal Sonic is the main protagonist, but the project goes far beyond a character swap. The Sonic 1 engine is extensively modified with new movement behavior, additional playable characters, new level layouts, and custom mechanics. Later versions also include extra modes and refinements such as improved wall-jump behavior.

Metal Sonic Hyperdrive is a full Sonic 1 conversion and should not be described as Metal Sonic running through the original Sonic 3 & Knuckles campaign.
