About Sonic Tikal
Introduction: "Sonic Tikal" is a fan made ROM hack of "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles" for the Sega Genesis. It is a character swap hack that replaces Knuckles with Tikal, the echidna spirit from "Sonic Adventure". The game uses the original level layouts and palettes from the complete "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" cartridge, with Tikal's custom sprite and some modified text being the primary visual changes.
Gameplay & Mechanics: You play as Tikal, who controls identically to Knuckles from the base game. This means she has a slower run and lower jump than Sonic, but she can glide through the air and climb on most walls. The physics are the authentic "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" engine, known for its polished momentum and slope handling. Tikal does not gain any new abilities like the Insta shield or Drop Dash; she retains Knuckles's standard glide and climb mechanics. She can also collect the Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Tikal, which grants invincibility and unlimited flight, just like Super Knuckles.
