The visual style replaces Sonic's vibrant stages with cityscapes, factories, and docks, using custom palettes and tile sets to mimic the darker aesthetic of its inspiration while retaining the original Sonic 3 engine and level layouts.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The core physics and mechanics are identical to "Sonic 3". You control Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles with their signature abilities: Sonic's Insta-Shield and Super Peel Out, Tails' flight, and Knuckles' climbing and gliding. The momentum-based platforming and slope physics are preserved. The key change is contextual; you are running through stages visually redesigned as city streets and industrial areas, but the underlying level geometry, enemy placement, and object interaction are from the original Sonic 3 stages like Angel Island Zone and Hydrocity Zone.
