Introduction: Sonic 3 Complete is a comprehensive ROM hack of the official Sega Genesis game Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It is not a new game but a modification that combines both Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles cartridges into a single, definitive experience. The hack meticulously restores cut content, fixes bugs, and provides extensive customization options while using the original game's zones, sprites, and core assets. Its primary goal is to present the most polished and complete version of the original Sonic 3 & Knuckles project.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The gameplay is the refined physics and momentum based engine from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. You can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Sonic and Tails together, each with their classic abilities: Sonic has the Insta Shield and Super Peel Out, Tails can fly and swim, and Knuckles can glide and climb walls. The physics feel identical to the original, with precise slope detection and rolling momentum. A key addition is the ability to toggle between different elemental shields (Fire, Water, Electric) at any monitor, restoring a cut feature. The hack also includes the original, unused "Blue Spheres" style special stages for obtaining Super Emeralds.
