Introduction: Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the complete combined version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, originally created on the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive using the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge's Lock-On Technology. Together, the two releases form one massive, continuous 14-zone adventure starting from Angel Island Zone and culminating in the final space showdown at The Doomsday Zone.

Gameplay & Mechanics: Players can select Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Sonic accompanied by Tails. Sonic retains his Insta-Shield and elemental shield abilities, Tails can fly and swim carrying Sonic, and Knuckles can glide, climb walls, and smash specific barriers to access exclusive path routes. The combined game links both Super Emerald and Chaos Emerald progression systems: collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds unlocks Super forms, while advancing to the Hidden Palace Zone allows players to power them up into Super Emeralds for ultimate Hyper transformations.
