It is not an official title. The game features a new set of zones, including the titular Waterfall Zone, which uses a custom palette to create a lush, aquatic visual theme while reusing the base game's sprite assets and tile sets.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains Sonic as the sole playable character, using his original move set from Sonic 1, including the spin dash. The physics engine is the original Genesis code, so it maintains the authentic momentum and slope handling of the base game. Level layouts in zones like Waterfall Zone and Cavern Zone are entirely new, designed to emphasize vertical platforming and fast-paced routes that utilize the classic physics. There are no new abilities like the insta-shield or drop dash.
