About This Game
Introduction: "Sonic Boom" for the Flash Classic system is a fan made ROM hack of the 1991 Sega Genesis game "Sonic the Hedgehog". It is not an official title. The hack modifies the original Green Hill Zone, transforming its visual style with a new, predominantly blue color palette and rearranged stage layouts to create a distinct, faster flowing level. The game retains the original Sonic 1 sprite work and enemy designs.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The game features Sonic as the sole playable character, using the core physics and mechanics of the original Sonic 1. This includes momentum based platforming, the spin dash (which was added in later revisions of Sonic 1), and the classic jump attack. The primary modification is in the level design of the singular zone, which is restructured to emphasize maintaining speed with longer slopes and fewer obstructive enemy placements. There are no new abilities like the insta shield or drop dash.
Key Features:
- Reimagined Green Hill Zone with a new layout and blue themed palette.
- Level design focused on high speed, uninterrupted platforming flow.
- A short, concentrated hack ideal for a quick, challenging time attack.
