Metal Sonic Rebooted

Introduction: Metal Sonic Rebooted is a major ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Lone Devil. Winner of the Sonic Hacking Contest 2017, it heavily modifies the original game with new art, zones, layouts, music, mechanics, and features built around Metal Sonic.

Gameplay & Mechanics: Metal Sonic has a custom moveset that includes the standard Spin Dash as well as several ring-powered abilities. The Overdrive Attack provides a burst of speed, while aerial Rocket Attacks allow vertical or directional movement in the air. A Fast Fall can be used after jumping, and later versions add an Overclocked Mode. Rings function as an important gameplay resource because several special attacks consume them.
