Introduction: Sonic Delta is a comprehensive ROM hack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis. It is not an official game or a bootleg. The hack serves as a definitive content restoration and enhancement project, integrating cut levels like Hidden Palace Zone and Sonic 2's Hidden Palace Zone, and includes numerous graphical and gameplay tweaks. The visual style uses the original Sonic 3 & Knuckles sprites and tiles, with adjustments for restored content and new palettes.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack features Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as playable characters, each with their classic movesets from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The physics engine is the original, preserving the precise momentum and slope handling of the base game. Key abilities like the Insta-Shield, Gliding, and Climbing are fully intact. A significant mechanical addition is the inclusion of the Drop Dash from Sonic Mania, which is available to Sonic from the start, providing a modern speed-keeping option alongside the Spin Dash.
