Sonic 1: The Harder Levels

Introduction: Sonic 1: The Harder Levels is a ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive, created for the Sonic Hacking Contest 2013 by the Harder Levels Project. It reworks Sonic 1 into a more difficult and feature-rich version with new graphics, harder stage layouts, and additional playable characters.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the Sonic 1 foundation but adds Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as playable characters, along with changes to level design and difficulty. The stages are deliberately more demanding than the original game and include new object placement, traps, and altered routes.
